Do you like interfacing hardware and software? Do you play with Raspberry Pi’s for fun? If so, you’re an ideal candidate!
The Software and Controls Developer (S&CD) is tasked with control system design and programming the machine controller for all of TYCROP and customer’s equipment, as well as user interfaces. The person responsible will have training in machine control programming (PLC, DCS, microcontrollers etc), human-machine interfaces (HMI’s), as well as control system electrical design. Some experience with high-level programming is required. The S&CD will report to the Team Leader of their business unit.
Optional skills/experience in hydraulics, motion control, pneumatics and other motive systems will be a big benefit. A strong understanding of software development, version control, and best practices is an asset. A mechanical aptitude and understanding of machinery is required due to the nature of the applications. The expectation and understanding in industry and machine-specific skills will be acquired and developed on the job over time.
The natural career path for a S&CD is advancement into a senior software developer position.
